چکیده

We propose a novel wearable haptic device that can provide kinesthetic feedback for stiffness rendering of virtual objects in augmented reality (AR). Rendering using is crucial realistic finger-based object manipulation, yet challenging particularly AR due to the co-presence real hand, device, and rendered scenes. By adopting passive actuation with tendon-based transmission mechanism, proposed generate strong enough immersive manipulation prevention inter-penetration small-form-factor, while maximizing wearability minimizing occlusion usage. A selective locking module adopted allow elasticity objects. perform an experimental study two-finger grasping verify efficacy AR. also quantitatively compare/articulate effects different types feedbacks across visual sense (i.e., feedback, vibrotactile visuo-haptic feedback) first time.

Wearable Vibrotactile Haptic Device for Stiffness Discrimination during Virtual Interactions

In this paper, we discuss the development of cost effective, wireless, and wearable vibrotactile haptic device for stiffness perception during an interaction with virtual objects. Our experimental setup consists of haptic device with five vibrotactile actuators, virtual reality environment tailored in Unity 3D integrating the Oculus Rift Head Mounted Display (HMD) and the Leap Motion controller...

AR Feels "Softer" than VR: Haptic Perception of Stiffness in Augmented versus Virtual Reality

Does it feel the same when you touch an object in Augmented Reality (AR) or in Virtual Reality (VR)? In this paper we study and compare the haptic perception of stiffness of a virtual object in two situations: (1) a purely virtual environment versus (2) a real and augmented environment. We have designed an experimental setup based on a Microsoft HoloLens and a haptic force-feedback device, enab...
